    Treating the Cause: Rising Damp

    Durable treatment of saltpeter almost systematically requires treating the rising damp that feeds it. Two main approaches:

    • Hydrophobic resin injection, which creates a horizontal waterproof barrier blocking the migration of water (and thus salts) at the base of the wall.
    • Peripheral drainage, which reduces the amount of water available in contact with the foundations, thereby limiting the very source of the phenomenon.
